Smartphone sales have bumpy because Apple introduced the first iPhone in 2007 and although growth has slowed sales still rose 49 percent last quarter from a year ago, according to research firm IDC.
Ryan Garner, analyst at GfK, said the rush to build a sustainable market position is critical to the success of future brands like average 63 per cent of the consumer attaches to the type of phone they have — lowering the chance for rapid changes in the market.
Garner said the rapid growth of Android and the launch of the new Microsoft Windows, which will be similar to the t PC, and smartphone, it means that there are still opportunities for others.
